Substitute Custodian

Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute custodian in the Indian River School District.
To become a substitute you must complete the following steps:
Complete an online application at www.irsd.net. Click on "Employment Opportunities" circle in middle of page under "A Model of Excellence" banner.
External Applicants - click on "Start an application for employment"
List four (4) references with their email addresses, no family members.
Let them know they will be receiving a survey to complete through e-mail, if they do not see it, tell them to check their junk mail.
They can also do a reference letter, but it must be mailed in by the referenced person to: Indian River School District Attn: Suzanne Lingo, 31 Hosier Street, Selbyville DE 19975.
Once Substitute Application is complete:
Fingerprint Locations can be found on the www.irsd.net website under - Department - Human Resources - "Fingerprinting Locations"-cost $65.00- tell them for Indian River School District.
Physical Health & TB Certificate - can be found at the same site as the fingerprint location. Physical must be in the last year. TB can be in the last five (5) years.
Once you have completed the above and received a clean criminal background check, as determined by the District Investigator (you will receive this in the mail as a result of the fingerprints) email Suzanne.lingo@irsd.k12.de.us. Suzanne will set you up to be processed as a substitute, via email.
When you receive the email with the date and time for processing at the District Office location, bring with you:
Driver's License
Social Security Card
Copy of a check from your checkbook where you want your paycheck deposited
Unofficial Transcript for Bachelors/Master's Degree-Bring if you have this education, must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications:
Is able to meet the minimum physical requirements of the job including climbing a ladder to a minimum of 12 feet and to lift 50 lbs and carry it for 50 feet.
Demonstrates the ability to review and understand oral and written instructions and/or directions
Displays the ability to cooperate with school personnel
Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to Start of Employment.
The Indian River School District reserves the right to extend or shorten the application and/or interview period, to modify job requirements, and to reject any or all application for reasonable cause.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
